BIDDULPH Vics struck twice in as many minutes on Saturday as they beat Romulus 2-1 away.
The Vics took the lead 10 minutes before half-time when Tom Pope was brought down in the penalty area.
He was fouled by a player as he went round the keeper, and Neil Pestridge stepped up to score from the penalty spot.
The Vics made it 2-0 two minutes later from a free kick 30 yards out by Steve Gunby, which was headed home by James Marrow.
The Vics' defence performed well throughout, but could do nothing about the Romulus goal eight minutes from the end.
The Romulus left back, who had come on as a substitute, hammered home a drive from 25 yards out.
"It was a good result away from home, especially as Romulus had beaten us on our ground, and three important points," said Vics' manager Terry Greer.
"I was very pleased that we defended so well, as we have had problems this season keeping clean sheets.
"They had a lot of pressure without making any chances, and we didn't look like conceding until Matt Davenport and Steve Gunby were went off in the second half."
Davenport hurt his foot in a challenge, and was taken off on 65 minutes.
He was followed by Gunby, who damaged ankle ligaments when the Vics claimed he was tripped in the box.
Gunby will be out for a month, and Aidan Callan will be out of action for up to six weeks with a broken rib
The Vics are at home to Barwell tomorrow, and travel to Coalville next Tuesday.
