ALSAGER Town failed to turn their chances into goals on Saturday as their home league match ended in a stalemate.
Alsager had the majority of the play in the first half against Stone Dominoes.
The closest they came to scoring was after just five minutes when a volley from 20 yards from Phil Parkinson flew just over with the keeper beaten.
Stone moved the ball around well but rarely threatened the Alsager defence.
Brotherton had a brief spell up front towards the end of the half, firing wide when in a good position.
Stone created the better chances in the second half, but blazed the ball over the bar on numerous occasions.
Bowers had two excellent chances to break the deadlock for Stone, but found Alsager keeper Powner in good form.
A Stone goal on 75 minutes was ruled out for offside, and a shot from McCulloch brought a fine save from the Stone keeper.
Alsager felt hard done to when the referee waved away a penalty appeal 10 minutes from the end, the home fans believing Grocott was brought down in the box.
Alsager travel to Maine Road tomorrow, and play Crewe Alex next Tuesday in the Cheshire Senior Cup semi-final.
