Path wrath

A MAN was forced to walk along a busy dual carriageway because the state of the pavement was so bad.

And he says that, despite complaining to Warrington Borough Council three months ago, nothing has been done to fix it.

Now, officers say that the problem along a stretch of Winwick Road - between Alban Retail Park and LA Bowl - is being looked into and should be sorted out soon.

Dave Taylor, of Woolston, said: "I usually drive a car but one day last September I decided to walk rather than drive and was forced to walk along the dual carriageway because the path was in such a bad way.

"I complained to the borough council and my complaint was logged but nobody got back to me.

"It is really dangerous, especially if there are children or mums with pushchairs trying to walk along there.

"I had tried to be 'green' but from now on I will use my car - others are not lucky enough to choose."

John Williams, highways maintenance manager, said: "The problem with the pathway is that it is lower than the kerb line and tends to hold water following heavy rainfall. This is due to there being a problem on the drainage system.

"We are currently carrying out investigation works on the system and believe that the problem will be resolved shortly."
