Club's bid to be leading centre for live music in town

MAJOR changes could be on the cards at Warrington's WA1 venue bar if plans for the club's expansion go ahead.

Full details about the changes have yet to be revealed but it is believed that the Legh Street club is changing hands.

It is also believed that the new owner is interested in ploughing more funds into the music venue, which could see it attracting big name bands to the town.

Tony Carroll, of WA1, said that the club would soon be revealing its future plans, regarding some "major changes" to what it has to offer.

He said that the club's roots would remain firmly in live music and indie/rock club nights.

"However, there is now a need for something more, something that will bring people together who are in a band, sing, play an instrument or just want to be involved in the music scene or experience what it can offer," he added.

"The venue's future has never looked so positive. People in Warrington, around the north west and, I hope, all over the UK, will come to know WA1 as the place for live music and a centre for every aspect of the industry."
