FIRST place in Barnton and Frodsham AC's Flyer at Heesom's Pool last Wednesday went to Ronnie Kinsella on peg 53.
Fishing caster and squatt on the pole at 10 metres, Kinsella took mainly roach for 4-12-0.
Mal Lightfoot, peg 51, came in second with a roach and perch catch of 3-13-0.
Although Barry Owen's run of five successive wins in these regular mid-week matches came to end, he still put in another fine performance, claiming the third slot with 3-1-0 of roach and a pair of ide.
Heesom's Pool was also the venue for the fourth match in the club's Scott's Shield series on Sunday. Steve Walker, peg 7, claimed the win with a weight of 3-4-0 consisting of two skimmers plus roach and perch.
Runner-up on the day was Trevor Jones on peg 14 with 2-13-8. Jones only landed two fish but one of these was a perch of 2-13-0.
The frame was completed by Arthur Kenney, peg 40, who had an ide, a skimmer and a few roach in his net of 1-4-8.
With two rounds to go in this series, the overall leader is Steve Walker with 92 points, with Arthur Kenney a close second with 91. In joint-third place, and still not out of it, are Danny Griffiths and Peter Moore, both with 85 points.
