Ageing Jems visit Town

WARRINGTON Town will welcome two former Nottingham Forest players to Cantilever Park on Saturday as they bid to knock Ilkeston off their perch.

With Nigel Jemson and Steve Chettle in their ranks, Ilkeston are riding high at the top of the UniBond League first division table.

Both veterans have had distinguished careers but Jemson is arguably the more high profile of the two having scored the goals that knocked Premiership high flyers Everton out of last season's FA Cup. It was one of the biggest giant-killing acts of the decade and Town will be hoping that the boot is on the other foot on Saturday.

Town manager Glenn Walker said: "We are really looking forward to the challenge of playing against Ilkeston.

"It is a game that will either show how far we've come or highlight how far we have still got to go.

"It should be a great battle and it would be nice to have more supporters behind us cheering us on."

Meanwhile, Town's players have shown themselves to be tough but fair.

During December, 2004, the Cantilever Park team gained only two bookings while building up their run of only one defeat from 10 games.

This has led to Town winning the UniBond League's fair play award for last month and a presentation will be made to the club prior to Saturday's home game, which kicks off at 3pm.

Town have landed a home draw in the quarter-finals of the UniBond League President's Cup. They will entertain Bamber Bridge on January 22.
