New head teacher looks forward to an exciting challenge

IT is the second term of a new era at Brook Acre Primary School in Padgate, as its new head teacher looks forward to meeting fresh challenges and bringing exciting new ideas to the school.

Stockport-born Karen Morris, aged 31, took up the post of head teacher in September.

She replaced Mick Hare, who had been head for 10 years.

And after a successful first term, Karen is raring to go and cannot wait to get going now that the new term has started.

She pledges to bring plenty of new ideas to the school but says Mr Hare will be a hard act to follow.

She said: "I've got some very big shoes to fill but things are going great so far, thanks to the staff and children who have made me feel so welcome.

"I love teaching and have a real enthusiasm for it.

"I've come to a fantastic school and I'm extremely lucky that I'm working with wonderful staff and great children.

"It really is a joy to come and work here."

She adds: "I want to build on the good practice that was already here and to foster an exciting and enjoyable learning environment for the children.

"I hope to bring some new ideas to the school as well as genuine enthusiasm for improving the education of the children and the school as a whole."

Karen, who lives in Winwick, was formerly deputy head teacher of The Gates Primary School in Westhoughton and before that taught in schools in Derbyshire and Teeside, before settling in Warrington.

She says it was the warm welcome she received when she visited the school for her interview that told her Brook Acre was the school for her.

She said: "From the moment I walked into the school I was struck by its warmth. It's something that hits you straight away. I knew then that I really wanted to work here."
