WARRINGTON Wolves' senior Academy side came out on top when they met newly-named Warrington Wizards in a pre-season Rugby League friendly at Wilderspool Stadium on Saturday.

Craig Ashall, who gained first team experience against Widnes and Barrow over the festive period, scored two tries and four goals for Wolves.

Ian Wilkinson and Anthony Houghton each grabbed a brace of tries for Wolves and Dave Ashton also touched down.

Darren Geritas, Dave Kelly, Chris Mellor and Andy James found their way over the whitewash for the Wizards, who boast several experienced ex-professionals in their ranks.

Mellor, two and Mike Princic added conversions.
