AN ANIMAL rescuer who visited Sri Lanka last Christmas is auctioning two rings to raise money for the animals which survived the tsunami.
The blue topaz and purple amethyst, both weighing five carats and set in white gold, were bought when Nicky Green holidayed in Sri Lanka.
The rings are insured for £250 each and Nicky, who has already donated to help the victims, is raising money for the World Society for the Protection of Animals.
She said: "It would be wonderful to sell them both and there is no maximum or minimum bid but I would like to raise as much money as possible.
"The farm animals, wildlife and domestic animals will have been injured or swept away from their familiar surrounding and will be desperate for food and made ill by the contaminated water. They will die without medical care, food and shelter."
If anyone wants to donate but doesn't want to buy the rings, they should write to Nicky Green, Yew Tree Farm, Davenham Road, Whatcroft, Northwich, CW9 7RZ.
