Crewe crash out

CREWE crashed out of the FA Cup with a 3-0 defeat at managerless Coventry.

It was a lacklustre performance from Dario Gradi's men who may have reeling from a whirlwind 24 hours that saw leading scoring Dean Ashton depart for Premiership strugglers Norwich.

City started brightly and it was no surprise when McSheffrey fired in off the post after Stern John's close-range effort had been cleared.

The visitors could have levelled but Crewe's Luke Varney headed just wide and John made them pay when he finished with aplomb from eight yards out.

Crewe offered little threat, and McSheffrey sealed it from six yards after Stephen Hughes' superb pass.
