Question time for Cranford Avenue

NEIGHBOURS in a narrow street plagued by rush-hour drivers heading in opposite directions have been asked what should be done to improve life.

Clr George Walton has posted a questionnaire to every home in Cranford Avenue asking whether it should be made one-way.

"I merely want to get the views of the people it affects," he said.

"It is important the people have a say."

In November Anne Frumin told the Knutsford Guardian that her neighbours in Cranford Avenue were fed up with cars getting stuck in the narrow street.

Residents are forced to park on both sides of the road because they do not have driveways or garages. But rush-hour drivers make matters worse by using Cranford Avenue as a shortcut to avoid queues in Northwich Road.

Clr Walton, a member of Macclesfield Borough Council's highways team, will collect the responses between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Saturday.

"I am not being nave enough to believe that it is only Cranford Avenue that will be affected," he said.

"The whole area will need to be looked at including Bexton Road and Stanley Road."

Neighbours can also post the responses to Clr George Walton, 48 Blackhill Lane, Knutsford, or call him on 01565 651507.
