Crewe accept Ashton bid

CREWE have accepted an undisclosed bid for the Championship's leading scorer Dean Ashton.

Boss Dario Gradi confirmed the 19 goal striker is on his way to Carrow Road for talks after a written offer from the Canaries was accepted yesterday evening.

Gradi says the club still hope to hang on to Ashton until the end of the season but felt it was in the players' best interests to consider the move.

If Ashton decides against a move to Norwich, he could be back in the Crewe side that travels to Coventry for their FA Cup Third Round clash.

"The ball is in his court now and he might have signed for them by the end of the day," said Gradi.

"But if he decides against it then he will play for us at Coventry tomorrow."
