TWO grandparents from Warrington will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary with a family meal this Saturday.
Nick and Joan Foulkes, who live in Garner Street, are going to celebrate the milestone of 60 years of marriage with a meal at Statham Lodge, Lymm, with their immediate family.
They have two daughters, Lynn, aged 56, and Joan, aged 52. They also have three granddaughters Sarah, aged 32, Lucy, aged 30, and Hannah, aged 25.
When asked the secret to a good marriage, Mr Foulkes, aged 80, said: "Tolerance, more than anything - honesty and love." Mrs Foulkes, aged 79, added that the secret was "being there for each other".
They first met at a Liberal political club in Bewsey while ballroom dancing. They later married on January 6, 1945, at St Peter's Church, which used to be on Bewsey Road. Mr Foulkes said: "It was very cold."
Since then they have both retired and Mr Foulkes has never forgotten an anniversary.
