Youngsters are fed up with politicians like me, says Fiona

TORY councillor and parliamentary hopeful Fiona Bruce claims the town's youngsters are disaffected with people like her.

The councillor for Penketh, who is bidding to be the next parliamentary representative for Warrington South, said: "Too many people in Warrington feel disconnected from politics, especially the young."

Mrs Bruce made the claim at the launch of the Warrington Conservative Futures Association.

At its inaugural meeting the hot topic was tuition fees, where mini-Tories attacked the Government's policy of top-up fees.

Former Lymm High School pupil Chris Hancock, proposing the motion, This House would abolish all student fees, said: "The Government's proposal to introduce top-up fees will only magnify the inequality of the present university system. Young people from less affluent backgrounds will be put off going to university."
