Alice takes a new adventure ... adopting a white rabbit at zoo

LOUISE Sinker, from Grappenhall, followed her white rabbit to Chester Zoo this Christmas as part of her duties as Alice.

Louise, aged 10, is the Daresbury Lewis Carroll Society's 'Alice in Wonderland' for the year, and one of her first engagements was to hand over a cheque to the zoo for the adoption of a white rabbit.

Members of the society have been adopting white rabbits at Chester Zoo for many years, and have contributed towards the feeding costs for the animals.

Sue Watson, of the zoo's membership and adoptions department, said: "All money raised through our animal adoption goes directly towards the costs to care for the animals.

"The adopters will also have the opportunity to visit their adopted animal and have their name on one of our special adopter's plaques."

After handing over the cheque, Louise and her family spent the day at the zoo and even got to meet the flamingos, made famous in the Queen's croquet scene in the Alice story.
