Relief road has proved little relief for residents

I refer to your article in the Guardian (Dec 23) in which it stated Nantwich motorists had been given an early Christmas present as they had opened the relief road. The relief road is of no relief to local residents.

I live in Meeanee Drive and for myself and other residents in my area the present was only temporary.

For us it is not the relief road we expected, as we still have to join the queue, which at times is still backing up past Queens Drive.

While the queue is shorter the wait is longer.

This is caused by two things.

l The traffic light sequence for Welsh Row.

l Through traffic still using Welsh Row.

As the sequence now only lets through between five to seven cars the traffic builds up again, when before 15 to 18 cars could get through.

If all the through traffic used the link road then it may prove beneficial to the residents but at the moment it is as bad as ever.
