Why refuse our refuse?

HERE I sit, looking at another Council Tax bill, wondering just what is going on!

We pay a small fortune every year to the council for services including the Police and Fire service, even the Christmas decorations (which were this year, an abomination in Crewe, it was disgracefull to see other 'smaller' towns with decor that far outstripped ours!) and finally yes we do actually pay for 'refuse collection'.

This leads me to my final point. Why on earth do they refuse to empty bins that are slightly open?

Even if they were half open with refuse, it would be obvious that the bin is full, and as such needs emptying - which is what we pay for.

They also ignore refuse sacks put out for collection, again 'REFUSE' sacks. Isn't refuse collection what we pay for?

Come on we're bound to get some councillor defending them however what it boils down to is one of two things.

1. The collection men are NOT fulfilling their job descriptions, and action must be taken to rectify this or replace them.

2.They have been instructed on this course of action by their employers - the council. In this case the council is not providing a service for which we, as residents, pay.

Either way what we have is a sorry excuse for a service.

The council may try to explain this away by saying it all comes down to 'cost cutting!'

COME ON! It costs no more to empty a bin that is slightly more full than to empty one that is half empty.

Besides, if they're cost cutting, when do we start to see the benefit, by way of a rebate?
