Proud dad pays tribute to soldier son

A PROUD dad has paid tribute to his high-flying army son who is just a few weeks away from his final tour of duty.

Frank Morton of Queens Close, Higher Runcorn, has watched his son, also called Frank, rise from fresh-faced recruit in 1965 to become Lt Col in the King's Own Scottish Borders.

Frank junior, 55, who has served all over the world, is heading off to Iraq in February for seven months before retiring.

His dad, said: "Frank was born in Percival Lane and was one of nine children and times were hard then.

"After 41 years in the Army he is ready to retire and we're all very proud of what he has achieved."
