Third award in a row leaves truck stop flushed with success

THE Poplar 2000 truck stop in Lymm has earned honours in the Loo of the Year competition, winning the award for the third year in a row.

Judges, who paid a secret visit to the service area, were so impressed with the standards of hygiene and cleanliness, that they gave the toilets a four-star award.

Operations director Brian Larkin said: "Around 1,000 people a day use the toilets at Lymm and because they are open around the clock, every single day of the year, keeping the facilities clean is a mammoth task.

"Winning the award for a third time is a tribute to the hard work put in by our cleaning staff."

Competition judges visited more than 1,000 public toilets all over Britain, scrutinizing cleanliness, overall management, signage, accessibility, dcor and the standard of fixtures and fittings.
