Young can have a say on future services

YOUNG people in Middlewich are being encouraged to start thinking about what services they would like to see in the town in preparation for a youth consultation.

Middlewich Vision, with partner Congleton Borough Council, is carrying out research into conducting a comprehensive consultation among the young people living in the town to identify potential youth projects.

A small-scale consultation was carried out earlier this year, which highlighted concerns among youngsters that their needs were not being catered for.

Middlewich Vision project coordinator Caroline O'Brien said the purpose of the consultation would be to identify what these needs are and to develop facilities or projects from the findings.

She said: "We want this to be a widespread consultation, so we are working with the council's community development team to see how to go about it and how we can reach all the different groups of youths in the town.

"We hope to get a few projects that they want to see up and running."

She added: "There are already several youth facilities in the town, so it may be a case of advertising those better, or changing them so they are more suitable.

"In the meantime, it would be great if young people could think about what they would like to see in Middlewich in preparation for the consultation."
