A FORMER Guardian reporter has scooped a top award in recognition of her outstanding achievements in business.
Mhari Oakes, who now works as a publicity expert at Profile Communications UK Ltd, has won the Business After Hours Club Woman In Business Award for 2004.
Mhari picked up the award at a glitzy ceremony in Chester and is delighted her hard work has paid off.
She said: "It is a real honour to have been voted Business Woman of the Year and we would like to thank our clients and everyone in the local, regional and national media who have supported our work."
Mhari began her career as a reporter on the Guardian before pursuing her career in the world of PR by setting up Profile Communications with former Guardian editor Nicola Dufty.
Mhari said: "Profile Communications has come a long way in just three years and that is due to the dedication and professionalism of the whole team."
