PUBGOERS have enjoyed a safe and enjoyable Christmas thanks to the huge success of a scheme banning troublemakers from pubs in Tarporley.
Pub Watch was set up in the village in October and its organisers are delighted with the progress made.
Dave Coathup, Congleton and Vale Royal's substance misuse officer, said: "This scheme is starting to take a lot of effect in Tarporley which is great news for the people who visit pubs there.
"I think the message is getting across and it is especially the case at this time of year because I'm sure people didn't want to pick up a ban over Christmas."
Although there has never been a major problem in pubs in Tarporley the scheme has made a significant difference with one troublemaker already banned from all licensed premises in the area.
Stuart Hulse, chairman of the Tarporley Pub Watch committee, said: "Following an incident in Tarporley on December 5 a female is now serving a six-month ban from all pubs in Tarporley and Eaton.
"This really is a great place to come and socialise and local licensees are determined to keep it that way.
"Pub Watch benefits everyone.
"If you want a good time please come and join our company but if you are going to misbehave please stay away as you risk being banned from all of our premises."
The Pub Watch committee is now warning that they can impose instant bans on troublemakers during the festive season.
Dave Coathup said: "We can call emergency committee meetings following any instances of trouble so that an immediate ban can be issued.
"Tarporley doesn't have a big problem and we want to keep it that way."
