CHRISTMAS cards and gifts were delivered to homes in Winsford on time by Royal Mail despite recent problems in the postal system.
Staff shortages and high levels of sickness absence at the Winsford delivery office were causing chaos just a few months ago.
But postal staff managed to cope with the enormous Christmas workload to ensure everyone received their parcels in time for the celebrations on December 25.
Royal Mail union representative Steve Gough is pleased that the Christmas rush went so smoothly.
He said: "There have been no problems reported to me from the Winsford delivery office and that is great news."
Residents complained to the Guardian in October following reports of mail being delivered late by non uniformed postmen.
Mr Gough said: "Things have been sorted out there now and they are starting to get to grips with things.
"There were problems in Winsford a few months ago but hopefully that is all over."
The Christmas period is considered to be the most stressful time of year to work in the postal service and Mr Gough is full of praise for the Royal Mail workers in Winsford.
He said: "The workload over Christmas is tremendous.
"Sometimes you think it can't be done but we are always determined to get the post out on time.
"I'm sure postmen in Winsford, just like anywhere else, will make sure that the post is put through people's doors in time for Christmas.
"We work very hard to make the service as good as possible for our customers and are all extremely dedicated to our jobs."
