Top tributes will make it a real great eight days of Christmas

IF you're looking for one mother of a Christmas Eve party, kick it out Darkness style in the Limelight, tomorrow, Friday.

It's a time for tradition and Crewe's music mecca is no different by once again bringing your favourite tributes back over the next festive eight days.

And to start it all off, the concert room welcomes the one who made arguably the biggest surprise impact of 2004.

While The Darkness have rounded off another rocking 12 months with an explosive UK tour and work with Band Aid 20, it's also been a mega year for their alter-egos.

Having packed the Limelight on three visits so far, The Likeness are back with a Christmas special in their final gig of 2004.

With only a few gigs under their belts, they arrived in town on April 14 and became the first tribute to completely fill the concert room for a free gig on a Wednesday night.

It was some show and the crowd shouted them back for more, resulting in a two-hour set.

Impressive given The Darkness have released just one album - Permission To Land.

Sparking a quick return, they enjoyed another successful gig in June and were back to play two sets including a kids show in August.

The guys have come a long way since first tinkering around with I Believe In A Thing Called Love.

Tinkering escalated and they decided to go the whole hog with a tribute providing the sounds, the presentation and the fun of the real deal's live show.

National TV exposure quickly followed when two of the band took up an invitation from ITV's CD:UK to meet The Darkness and ask for their thoughts on tribute bands.

Justin and co. were flattered.

It's been busy throughout the last few months with gigs galore across the UK and they've just returned from a four-date tour of Ireland, adding new tunes from the original's US tour.

Should be a blast, advance tickets are recommended at £8.
