Captain back for Alsager

ALSAGER Town are hoping to have their inspirational captain back for a new year visit to leaders Fleetwood.

Wayne Brotherton is his side's leading scorer this season despite playing at centre half.

He damaged his ankle against Skelmersdale, but is back in light training with a view to returning against Fleetwood on January 3.

Alsager centre forward Peter Heler is out of hospital after treatment for a cash injury he also sustained in the Skelmersdale match.

He is recovering at home, but could be out of action for some time yet.

Alsager's scheduled league match on Saturday at home to Great Harwood Town was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

They lost 5-1 at home last Tuesday to Accrington Stanley in a friendly, Walker scoring for Alsager on 76 minutes.

Alsager take on second from bottom Formby next Monday before their trip to the leaders, Formby having beaten Congleton Town 2-1 on Saturday.

Alsager are in eighth place in the table, 14 points behind Fleetwood.
