Panto delight for nwcomer Kaya

TEENAGER Kaya Stanley-Money steps into the limelight next month in a classic panto being staged in Congleton.

Kaya plays the part of Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty in Congleton Pantomime's popular annual show.

Kaya is one of a number of newcomers in the panto, which features a cast of 40 and plays at the Daneside Theatre from January 8 to 15.

Last year's show was a sell-out and all the tickets for the Saturday and Sunday matinees for Sleeping Beauty have already been snapped up.

The show is being directed by Gareth Castle, helped by assistant director Sandra Copestick.

The musical director is Judith Hearson and the choreographer is Jean Clarke, whose dancers and babes feature in the pantomime.

The principal boy is played by Emma Castle as the Prince, and the role of the Dame is taken by Neil Garbett, his debut in the part.

The dame is usually played by Brian Jefferson, who is taking a well-deserved rest this year.

The Wicked Fairy is Ellie Cowan in her first role for the panto group, Gretchen is Jill Cardall, and Silly Billy is Phillip Maxwell, another panto debutant.

Double act Hovis and Crumb are played by Howard Ball and Andrew Brown, also making his debut, and the Lord Chamberlain is Chris Mann.

The King and Queen are played by Cheryl Kelly and Kevin Ison, Brian Jefferson has written the script, and the stage manager is panto chairman Paul Milburn.

Tickets for Sleeping Beauty are available from Congleton Information Centre.
