WARRINGTON RAMBLERS

ON Sunday, December 12, members travelled to Settle, North Yorkshire, on their last outing of the year.

Starting at Long Preston, a party led by Geoff Foreman proceeded to Newton Moor then on to Orme Gill Green, Kirby Malham, Hanlaith Hall, Aire Head, Malham, Malham Cove, Maltham Lincs, Ewe Moor, Gorbeck, Jubilee Cave, Attermire Scar and then to the finish in Settle for a total of 14.5 miles.

Also starting at Long Preston the B party, led by Barbara and David Jones, went via Scaleshaw and Langber Lane tracks to Orme Gill, Green Lane, High Ings Barn, Deepdale Plantation, Kirby Malham, Hanlith Bridge, Scalegill Mill, Aire Head, Malham, Hoober Edge, Kirby Fell, Stockdale Lane and then minor roads into Settle for a distance of 12 miles.

Starting in Settle, Vince Joyce led the C party along the Ribble Way to Stackhouse then to Feizor and into Stainforth via Wargreaves Barn and Little Stainforth then it was on to Catrigg Force, Win Skill Down, Langcliffe and finally into Settle for a total of 10 miles.

Also starting in Settle the D party, led by Alan Rainford, went along the River Ribble crossing it over Stainforth's 17th century Park Horse Bridge and climbing into Catrigg Forge undulating paths were then followed until the party finally arrived back in Settle for a distance of eight miles.
