Be a lifesaver

THE National Blood Service is calling for people in the mid Cheshire area to give blood and save a life this Christmas.

In previous years, blood stocks have dipped by as much as 10 per cent in December as regular donors struggle to find time to donate in the busy festive season.

Rachel Roberts, spokesman for the National Blood Service, said: "Finding the time to give blood at Christmas is like sending a patient you'll never meet a priceless gift - the gift of life."

Blood donation sessions will take place at the following places over the holiday period:

l Middlewich Civic Hall, Lewin Street, Middlewich: Friday, December 31, 10am-12.30pm

l Northwich Memorial Hall, Chesterway, Northwich: Tuesday, January 4, 2pm-4pm and 5.30pm-7.30pm.
