Woman repeats pet appeal

AN UPSET Northwich pet shop owner has renewed her appeal for the return of her two treasured parrots after raiders struck in a midnight break-in.

Thelma Egerton, who runs the Firthfield Pet Store on Witton Street, is devastated after the intruders made off with African Grey birds Arnie and Polly in the raid.

The raiders used a car jack to force their way into the back of the shop and stole Arnie, who Thelma has owned for 13 years, and Polly, who she has had under her wing for 11.

Each of the pets is insured for about £700 and they are registered on a national parrot helpline.

Thelma said: "There has still been no sign of them and it is awful. People are coming into the shop, especially kiddies who drop by during their lunchtime and Polly and Arnie are being very much missed.

"They are part of Northwich and people can't stop saying how they can't believe they have been taken away from us."

Anyone with any information about the raid should contact police on 01244 350000 or the shop itself on 01606 43510.

lWe have been asked to point out that the woman pictured in last week's story is shop assistant Dawn Carter and not shop owner Thelma Egerton.
