HOPE House Hospice has received an unexpected Christmas present from two footsore residents.
Keith Burrows and Phil Spencer, from Nantwich, donned their walking shoes to raise more than £1,000 for the charity, which provides respite and palliative care for terminally ill children in its local hospice.
Keith and Phil took more than 12 hours to complete a gruelling 34-mile sandstone trail walk in Peckforton and Beeston.
The money raised will go towards the £1.5million annual cost of running the hospices.
Cllr Keith Cafferty, chairman of Friends of Nantwich, a support group for the hospice, said: "The charity is really pleased with the money that Keith and Phil raised and it is certainly an unexpected Christmas windfall.
"They were both elated but exhausted when they completed the walk and it shows how much can be achieved by a simple idea.
"For two people to raise such a fantastic amount of money is a magnificent achievement."
