D'oh! How could you steal Homer?

CALLOUS thieves who stole a family's Christmas decorations from their front garden have left a toddler pining for his favourite cartoon character.

The decorations, which included a large Homer Simpson figure, reindeers pulling a sleigh and three signs carrying messages including: 'Santa stop here,' were stolen from a house on Molyneux Avenue, Bewsey, on Friday December 3.

Now, Zoe McAndrew, aged 25, mum of three-year-old Haydon, is offering a reward to anybody who can help get them back.

Zoe, who lives in the house with her partner Paul Derrick, said: "We only went out for half an hour to get a pizza. Our little boy keeps asking where they are. He's only three and he keeps asking, where has Homer gone?"

Zoe says that little Haydon used to think that Homer was dancing when the figure swayed in the wind and that he used to love dancing with him.

But now that the figure has been stolen she says that she is going to have to fill in as his dance partner.

She added: "We are willing to give a small reward to anybody that can help us get them back."

Inspector Brian Heywood, who is in charge of Warrington's inner sector Community Action Team, said: "We would urge any members of the public who have had decorations stolen to get in touch with us so that we can follow up the matter."

Meanwhile, anyone who thinks they can help find Homer should call Zoe on 486899. Alternatively if you have information about a crime, you can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111

An inflatable Father Christmas was also stolen from a house in Woolston.

The six-foot-tall inflatable Santa was stolen from a front door on Holes Lane, Woolston.

Owner Karen Johnston said: "At about 1am we discovered someone had put a hole in him and then when we got up the next day he was gone. Someone's obviously stolen it for a drunken laugh, but he's no good to anyone else as we've still got the controls that inflate him."
