Retirement flats plan for Dog and Dart

PARISH councillors have opposed plans to demolish Grappenhall's Dog and Dart pub to make way for retirement apartments.

The scheme, submitted by national developers McCarthy and Stone, proposes 44 sheltered apartments built on the pub site on Knutsford Road.

But Grappenhall and Thelwall Council, which met on Tuesday night, opposed the plans, saying there was no need for extra housing.

Damian Boddy, clerk of the council, said councillors were also concerned about possible traffic problems, as many parents currently use the pub car park to drop off children at Bradshaw Primary School.
