PUPILS at Cuddington Primary School spent an enjoyable day decorating Christmas trees at a wassailing event on Saturday.
Members of the Cuddington School ECO committee hosted the Vale Royal Watch Group event to celebrate the ancient celebration of adorning tree branches with ribbons, trinkets and tasty offerings for birds.
Headteacher Ruth Laidlow said: "We were also fortunate to have received a donation of 10 fruit trees from the Cheshire Landscape Trust and four fruit trees from the Vale Royal Environmental and Sustainability Fund.
"The trees were planted as an avenue along the children's pathway into school."
Children took part in wassailing the trees which is a traditional process to ensure they bear lots of fruit in the coming year.
Ruth said: "Afterwards everyone enjoyed soup and cheese with crusty bread and butter to help keep us all warm. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the morning and we look forward to seeing the blossom in spring and eating the fruit in autumn."
