Vandals' angry victim offers reward for help

A FURIOUS Winsford resident is offering a reward for information after a gang of teenagers damaged his motorbike and car in a 'needless' act of vandalism.

Chris Bebbington, 49, of Station Road, is so annoyed about the incident that he has put up a cash reward in an attempt to identify the culprits.

He said: "It was about 6.45pm on Saturday and I was about to go out for the evening to celebrate my son's birthday when a neighbour knocked on the front door telling me that youths had deliberately pulled my motorcycle over which then fell on my car.

"I reported it to the police and then got in my car and drove round the Wharton area.

"I saw a gang of 23 kids, both boys and girls, aged between 12 and 17, stood drinking on the street and went over to ask them if they knew anything about it.

"All I got from them was abuse.

"The vandals spoiled my evening, caused £500 of damage and I have also lost my no claims bonus with my insurance."

Chris believes drugs and alcohol are the cause of incidents like this.

He said: "I am a youth worker myself and I think it is alcohol and cannabis that are at the root of this problem.

"Why should I work hard all week to earn money and then have to spend it on repairing damage caused deliberately?

"It was an unprovoked and totally needless thing to do.

"I have lived here for 20 years and this is the first time I have had anything like this happen to me, but you hear about it happening to people in the area.

"Have the teenagers no respect today?"

Anyone with information about the vandalism should call the police on 01606 48000.
