Peter O' Toole set to sign in at the Priory

LEGENDARY Peter O' Toole is reliving the adventures of Casanova - in Runcorn!

A lavish TV production of this historic drama is being filmed in Norton Priory's medieval undercroft.

Museum director Steve Miller, said: "Having Casanova filmed here adds another major TV drama to the list of productions which feature Norton Priory.

"The site and particularly the medieval undercroft is proving a versatile and attractive venue for TV production companies and is certainly helping to put Runcorn on the media map."

David Tennant plays the young 18th century Casanova, whose extraordinary life takes him to Venice and across Europe. Hollywood actress Rose Byrne, last seen in the film Troy, stars alongside O'Toole as fellow servant Edith.

Little Britain's Matt Lucas is Villiers, a gay Venetian duke and Laura Fraser plays Henrietta, Casanova's one true love.

Filming for this BBC Three epic will also take place in Dubrovnik and Venice. It is due to be screened in the spring.

Island at War, a Granada TV drama capturing the occupation of the Channel Islands during the war, was filmed in the undercroft earlier this year.
