A cracking idea for family fun

CHILDREN at Squirrel Hayes First School took time out from lessons this week to make their own Christmas crackers.

Around 40 children were joined by parents and grandparents to make their own customised

crackers, which they kept to put on their trees at home.

The children customised the crackers with their own designs, and filled the inside with jokes and small toys of their own choice.

Jean Roberts, the school's nursery supervisor, said: "This was a social and educational

afternoon to show families how much fun they can have doing activities together.

"They all had a lovely time, and it will be nice for them to pull their own crackers on Christmas day."
