Council let baths decay

In reply to Marcus Bronte's letter about Warrington not needing a swimming pool (Guardian, November 25).

It was the borough council that let the baths become run down in the first place and, as Mr Bronte described, "filthy, old and decaying".

Other pools including Fordton have become so crowded at times it is virtually impossible to get a decent, uninterrupted swim. There is simply not enough pool space to cope with the demand. This council has proved in the past that it will not listen to the people and doesn't care.

Warrington baths was a meeting place, not only for swimmers but for all ages. I still find it hard to get over the closure. I am also offended and hurt by Mr Bronte's comments.

I also notice that Mr Bronte does not live in Warrington and obviously does not share the same feelings as the majority of the people who used the swimming baths on a regular basis. "So people who live in penthouse flats do not make noise," what world has he been living in? Get a life Mr Bronte.
