Difficult for the disabled

Having been away from Warrington for two years I am appalled that the facilities for the disabled have improved so little.

I went on Mersey Street car park and to get my ticket validated I had to take it and my blue badge to the office on the sixth floor. However, I had been unable to get a parking space on the sixth floor. When I drove there to go to the office there wasn't a single parking space on that floor. I parked as best I could to the side.

I walk with a stick but have no family or support worker who could push a wheelchair. I therefore wondered how I would go on if I could not walk at all.

I am saving the State at least £6 an hour by not having a support worker. I was glared at by other drivers although where I parked was sage - there are those in society who just feel superior if they have something to feel indignant about.

These are the kind of people to whom it never occurs that someone might be ill or disabled until it happens to them and they are usually the people who shout the loudest for scarce expensive resources.

Come on Warrington Borough Council, buck your ideas up.
