Fatal road smash sparks witness plea

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year-old man was killed in a road traffic collision near Little Moreton Hall at the weekend.

The man, who was from Stoke, suffered fatal injuries when the blue Daihatsu car he was driving was in collision with a silver Skoda Octavia on Saturday, December 4.

The Daihatsu was travelling south past Little Moreton Hall on the A34 Newcastle Road at

around 5.57pm when the incident occurred.

It is believed that the car crossed the carriageway and collided with the Skoda, which was travelling in the opposite direction towards Congleton.

The road was closed for several hours as the police and paramedics attended the scene.

The 25-year-old driver of the Daihatsu died at the scene from his injuries, and his female

passenger was taken to North Staffordshire hospital with leg injuries.

The driver and passenger of the silver Skoda, from Congleton, were also injured in the incident, and were taken by paramedics to Macclesfield Hospital.

Sgt Blair Wilson said: "We would appeal to any witnesses or members of the public with

information who have not already come forward to get in touch."

Members of the public who may have witnessed the incident, or have any information which

may help, can contact Sgt Blair Wilson on 01244 612594.
