Squad changes

WARRINGTON Wolves' Super League rivals will name their squads in advance of each fixture next season.

Wolves have tended to name theirs on Thursdays in past campaigns but in 2005 they, and their rivals, fall in line with a new Rugby Football League system.

The need for new guidelines intensified following St Helens turning up at Bradford Bulls on Easter Monday with a virtual A team. It was the background to this match which led to Martin Gleeson, now with Warrington, and Sean Long being banned for betting against their own St Helens side to lose.

Following discussions with the Super League clubs, the RFL has announced that each club will name a squad of 20 players 72 hours before each match. The squad can then be reduced to 18 players and the clubs must then register the names of those players 24 hours before the scheduled kick-off.

The lists of selected players must be lodged with the RFL no later than 2pm on the designated deadline day.
