Dead body pulled out of Mersey

POLICE and fire crews descended on Bridge Foot today, Monday, following reports of a dead body in the water.

Fire crews and police were called to the waterside, close to Mr Smith's Nightclub, at around 9.37am and quickly sealed-off the area.

But a police spokesman said it was too early to confirm any details.

He said: "We believe that a body has been recovered."

The spokesman added that Cheshire Police's underwater search unit had been dispatched to look for clues.

A spokesman for Warrington Fire Service said that they attended the scene but that they turned the matter over to the police when the body was recovered.
