Heroes brave flames to save family pet

A WOMAN is asking for two heroes who ran into her burning home and saved the family's pet dog to come forward.

The men rescued the animal from the house in Warrington Road, Risley, in the early hours of last Thursday.

The blaze has devastated the property, where the woman - who does not wish to be named - lives with her partner and child.

Speaking this week, she said: "While I was waiting for the fire

brigade, these two guys turned up in a car, broke the back gate down and the back door, and went into the house to save the dog.

"They were in their 20s or early 30s. I really want them to come forward so I can thank them."

The woman called the fire brigade after escaping from the house, but there were already flames bursting through the roof by the time they arrived.

A police spokesman said: "The occupant's life was put in danger but she was able to get

out without any injuries."

And a spokesman at Warrington Fire Station said: "It was an extensive fire. It had spread from the ground floor through to the first floor and the roof."

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "It is shocking. Whoever is responsible for this wants stringing up."

Police said the woman had challenged four men who she thought were tampering with a trailer outside the house at around 11pm.

They returned at around 11.30pm and then another

confrontation followed.

The four men are described as being in their 20s, white, and 6ft tall. Three were wearing baseball caps while one was wearing a sweater with a hood.

Any witnesses should call Det Con Rebecca Stokes or Det Con Dave Long at Warrington CID on 01244

613833 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.

If you can help identify the two men who saved the family's dog, call Alison Klabacher at the Warrington Guardian on 434111.
