Digging in to help

At the garden the young people grow organic crops and some fruit and vegetables.

The people involved in the project are trying hard to restore the garden to its former glory and a lot of work has gone into this over the past few years.

The centre is open each week on Monday to Thursday between 10am and 3pm and also on Friday mornings. It is based off Chester Road, along the little turning just before the crematorium at Higher Walton (there is a sign at the bottom of the road). People can visit the project by car or by walking through from Walton Gardens

Coming up to Christmas, the project will be running several workshops in and around the centre. Wreath-making, card-making and several other crafts will be on offer. With a glass of wine (or two) thrown in, these should make for very enjoyable festive evenings. If you are interested in attending these evenings and would like more details please phone Kate on 860143.

Peter Lewis, project manager, said: "We would love to see you all at the workshops, away from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping."

For more general information abut the Walton Lea Project, please call Peter on 860143.
