Cop a load of Nancy's amazing light show

Cop a load of Nancy's amazing light show

CHILDREN are being invited to see one of the best Christmas lights shows being staged in the area over the festive season.

Nancy Douglas, from Mow Cop, flicks the switch this week to turn on thousands of yuletide lights at her home.

Mrs Douglas is hoping the 2004 lights show will be as big a success as last year's display, which was visited by hundreds of people.

The 2003 show raised £1,130 for St Thomas' Church in Mow Cop and this year's display is supporting nearby Castle Primary School.

Mrs Douglas who lives in Mow Cop Road, opposite the Ash Inn, has covered her house and front garden in Christmas lights.

Santa Claus is climbing the house as part of the display, which also features a seesaw, rocking horse, sleigh and snowman.

The lights were due to be turned on last Wednesday, and will light up Mow Cop every day from 5pm to 10.30pm until 12 days after Christmas.

People coming to see the lights can park at the Ash Inn, where Mrs Douglas and her 16-year-old daughter Zoie will be inviting donations for the show.

An added treat will be free lollipops for children, and a collection bottle will be kept on the bar at the pub to add to the charity total.

"People came from all over last year and the children really loved it," said Mrs Douglas.

"I had a lot of compliments and was very pleased with the amount we raised."
