Town centre is dour and depressing

I HAVE lived in Crewe for seven years and only because it is convenient for access to the M6 Motorway.

I hardly ever shop in Crewe because it is such a dour and depressing place.

The shops are run-down and uninviting; the pubs (with the exception of the Limelight and a small number of others) appear to be full of inbred people.

Personally, I would move the war memorial, knock down and rebuild the entire central shopping arcade, replacing it with a modern two-storey glass building.

Also - let's have less of the 70's concrete jungle that surrounds this area - is it too much for the council to plant a few trees? Actually - it probably is given the amount of spending that went into the Millennium celebrations in Crewe (ie none!!!).

Also, the massive spending converting Nantwich Road into a 'Shopping Mile' has resulted in unnecessary speed bumps, which are, frankly, a disgrace.
