Whiston City 0 Pex Hill Aztecs 0

PEX Hill had the better of the chances with Rory Stewart going close early on.

Whiston's determination to keep the Aztec team out was demonstrated with some crunching tackles.

Formations were altered; tactics were tweaked by both managers but to no avail.

The heavy pitch took its toll on the youngsters, sapping their energy levels.

Player of the week, Connor Longstaffe, was awesome in the tackle while man of the match Josh Langton was commanding in defence supported by Alex Cooke.

Hard work by Dan Adams assisted by Martin Balls' deft touch needed an alert Whiston defence to stop Adam Donohue storming through.

The clever Alex Downing tried to unlock the stern defensive Whiston line with no reward.

In the last minute Whiston had two good chances to steal the points but were thwarted by the super Callum Jones.

The Aztecs have a weekend break, Forest Cubs are next up.
