Industrial park blueprints 'will create 40 jobs'

DEVELOPERS say their plans for Biddulph will create 40 jobs and help regenerate the town.

Biddulph Developments is seeking planning approval for 10 industrial units at the former district council refuse depot off Wharf Road.

Seven units would be for light industrial purposes, and the others for storage and distribution.

Access is proposed directly from Biddulph Bypass and developers say 40 new jobs would be created by the units, including 10 part-time posts.

"The object of the project is to provide Biddulph with an array of much-needed small-scale prestigious units," said a developers spokesman.

"The units will cater for a market that belongs in the light industrial and commercial field, and neither belongs in High Street nor the heavy industrial parts outside the town.

"It is hoped the development will provide services directly to the town of Biddulph without the need for travel, and will also be a source of regeneration and local employment."

Developers also say the site is located within easy walking distance of public transport and car parks. The scheme includes 21 car parking spaces.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council planners were considering the scheme last night, Thursday.

Two site neighbours oppose the plans, claiming the height of the proposed units was excessive, and that they already suffered from noise, fumes and bright lights from the bypass.
