Lewis appointed to key Sport England Panel

The Rugby Football League's Executive Chairman Richard Lewis has been appointed to Sport England's National Investment Panel.

The Panel provides strategic guidance to the organisation's main board on the distribution of major funding to all sports. It is chaired by Sport England's Chairman Lord Patrick Carter and comprises leading figures from business and the leisure industry.

Commenting on the news, Richard Lewis said: "I believe my appointment to the National Investment Panel is recognition of the overall progress made by our sport in recent times and is a tremendous reflection of Rugby League's continued overall success.

"The Panel plays an important and significant role within sport and Rugby League can only benefit from a closer association with such a group.

"On behalf of the whole of Rugby League, I am looking forward to working with fellow panel members and to making a positive contribution to the future success and progress of English sport at all levels".

Richard Lewis will begin to serve as a member of the National Investment Panel with immediate effect.
