Penalty nets three points for Crewe

DEAN Ashton's first-half penalty proved enough to give Crewe a superb three points at Coventry.

Dele Adebola should have scored for the home side but shot wide and the Alex were then awarded the penalty after David Vaughan tangled with Adie Williams.

Coventry continued to press, with Clayton Ince saving from Michael Doyle and Stephen Hughes.

Ince was back in action after the break, saving from Gary McSheffrey, while Mark Rivers missed from short range and Vaughan hit the woodwork.
