OAP project wins praise

A PIONEERING project to support old people won Halton Council praise at a keynote conference.

A workshop for elderly residents is being set up between the council and Halton Primary Care Trust.

Halton social services presented details of their ground breaking work at the social services north west conference at Aintree racecourse.

Cllr Tom McInerney, board member for health and social care, said: "We thought it very important for Halton to play an active part in this conference, which was a huge success.

"The council puts great emphasis on delivering a high standard of adult provision services."

Minister MP Stephen Ladyman, parliamentary under secretary of state for community care was the main speaker.

He spoke to Cllr McInerney about Halton's unique services.
